Just how durable is the ZST Telescopic Rod?

The ZST Telescopic Rod. A classic Fakro essential used to operate those hard to reach Fakro windows and all of those Fakro blinds. Well, all except Fakro pleated blinds. Sorry pleated blinds fans. But what of the rod?

Let’s take a look up close and personal with the one and only, Fakro ZST telescopic Rod.

Standard length ZST Telescopic Rod

So here is the rod at its basic, standard length. Not a bad reach by any means. It'll do the job for you when called upon. But what if you need a little more reach?

Maximum length ZST Telescopic Rod

Yes it’s an extender! That’s right, check out the reach on that beauty. You don’t just have to extend it to the rod’s maximum power, it has a few slots there so you can adjust the rod to a length that suits you. In fact, here are the finer details:

Standard length: 119cm
Extends up to: 134cm, 164cm, 190cm, 218cm.

The ZSP Control rod extension can boost this length to up to 330cm! Wowsers.

But back to the title question. How durable is the ZST telescopic rod? Well, you see, this blog post was inspired by an accidental drop test. A couple of days ago, our showroom ZST Rod had accidentally fallen from the top floor of the showroom to the bottom floor. Gasp!

Undamaged: ZST Rod "Is that all you've got?"

Fear not, the rod was perfectly fine! It survived unscathed and ready for another day of hard work. Nothing broken, not it's circular end piece nor it's spirit. What a trooper.

The height of which it dropped, according to my calculations, was roughly equal to a medium-sized bear standing on a coffee table. Also, the floor surface was not carpeted or laminated either! Well done, ZST Rod. Nothing phases you.

So there you have it, indisputable scientific evidence that the ZST Rod is one tough cookie that will be there for you when you need it most, and won’t judge you if you do accidentally drop it, though it may be slightly wary of you in the future.

If your special ZST Rod does happen to break or sustain some kind of damage, not to worry, we will get a replacement sent out to you in a giffy! No fuss. Just call us or email us.

Next week, I'll show you how ZST Rod's operate the windows and blinds in detail!

How to battle the early morning sunlight with Fakro blinds

As it gets brighter, earlier in the days, you may well be starting to get a bit of the ol' sunlight coming through your Fakro window and hitting your eyes whilst you're still tucked up in bed. To a lot of people (myself included), this is not ideal. So how do you remedy this situation? With a Fakro blackout blind of course!

No one likes a rude awakening when you've still got time to be in bed, so adorn your Fakro window with a Fakro blackout blind! On Fakro-blinds.co.uk, there are a whole range of colours and designs to choose from.
A common misconception with Fakro blackout blinds is that you need to get darker colours for them to be more effective. This is entirely not true!
All Fakro blackout blinds have the same silver, reflective backing and work exactly the same whether you get a white or pink, or a brown or black colour.

ARF-053 (left) and the ARF-231. Work exacty the same!

As you can see in that picture, the light ARF-053 Fakro blackout blind and the dark brown ARF-231 Fakro blackout blind have the same silver backing. Don't just take our word for it, remember you can order free samples from us and see for yourself!

All Fakro blackout blinds come with aluminium side channels as standard. What does this mean? It means you can pull down and position your blind at any point you want and it'll stay there. Now that's some control.
Of course Fakro blackout blinds are fully operational with Fakro ZST control rods as well.

How do they fit? I'd be delighted to tell you. Of course, all Fakro blinds come with full instructions and they are sincerely very easy to fit (no need to hire a handy man!), but there is also an informative video featuring Fakro legend Paul Warren showing you how to install a blackout blind as seen below:

So there we go, Fakro blackout blinds in a sort-of nutshell. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to share with us and the world! As mentioned earlier, order your free samples/free brochures by emailing us at sales@fakro-blinds.co.uk.

How Fakro roller blinds could be the one for you

Hello,

I'm going to be doing some short blog posts focusing on each Fakro blind type. Today, I'm starting with Fakro roller blinds.

Without a doubt, our most popular type of blinds are the Fakro blackout blinds, and with good reason. They're fantastic. But what if you don't want a blind that offers complete blackout qualities? What if you just want a blind that keeps a bit of light out and gives you a bit of privacy?

Well then, perhaps the Fakro roller blind can fill the void here. Roller blinds are best suited to give you that privacy, and also to soften the light coming in to the room, rather than completey block it out. Fakro roller blinds are perfect for these kinds of requirements.

As to how they fit, all standard Fakro roller blinds are fitted using plastic fixings that fit within the frame of your Fakro window. The blind itself can be pulled down to three fixed points, though you can actually upgrade nearly all Fakro roller blinds with the same aluminium channels that come with Fakro blackout blinds as standard, giving you complete control as to where the blind sits.

If you're looking for greater control of light coming in, then perhaps Fakro Venetian blinds are best for you, but more about that another time!

Also, a new batch of Fakro roller blind colours are being added to the range, featuring a wider selection of shades of already popular colours. Go see for yourself right here.

Remember, if you want to request free samples, give us a call on 01794 522 472 or send us an email at sales@fakro-blinds.co.uk

Ordering your Fakro Blinds 101

Hello there.

Today I'd like to go through the basics of getting your ideal Fakro blind. From the moment you get your Fakro window, to choosing your delightful Fakro blind to accompany it.

1. The first thing to do is take note of your window code which you can find on the metal plate on your window.

ALL Fakro roof windows have this metal plate. It can be located at the top part of the window (usually on the right side) and is only visible when opening your window. Take a look here (click the image to enlarge):

The most important thing you need to make a note of is the Window Type code, and the Window Size code.
For example; "FTP-V U3" would be the Window Type code, and "55 / 98" would be the window size.

2. Great, you now know what window type and window size you have. Next, what blind do you want?

Fakro Blackout blinds are most popular, and are most often put in bedrooms. These will block out any and all light from outside creeping in to your room and disturbing you in the bright early mornings.

Fakro Roller blinds are fantastic value for when privacy is the most important thing. These will give you that whilst softening the light coming in to the room.

Fakro Pleated blinds provide the same functionality as a roller blind but with a different material effect.

Fakro Venetian blinds are more adjustable in that you can control exactly how much light gets in.

3. Once you have chosen your blind, what colour do you want?

There are many colours and designs to choose from in every category. However, everyone's computer/mobile/tablet screen differs slightly and as a result we offer a free blind sample service for when you need to be 100% sure.
Just pick the colours/designs that look most interesting to you and we'll send your samples out to you 1st class. That's free blind samples sent to you 1st class. Not bad eh? All you have to do is call or email to request them. Click here for our contact details.

4. Hooray! You've found your dream blind colour. The sample is in your hand and you can but dream about what your Fakro window would look like adorned with a brand new Fakro blind. So what now?

Time to make your dreams come true and order that blind! You can do this either by visiting our wonderful website, www.fakro-blinds.co.uk, or you can call us directly and place an order over the phone.

If you're on the website, all you need to do is choose your blind catergory, colour, and then select size window you have the price will be shown to you.

Whilst Fakro blinds do fit nearly all Fakro window types, we ask you check your window type to see if you have an FTT window type (triple-glazed). Blinds are made differently to fit FTT winows (though they're still the same price!) so it's helpful for us to know. If you have a triple-glazed/FTT window, contact us before ordering.

And that's it, go forth and get that Fakro blind you've been dreaming of all these years!
